Fantasia Announces Second Wave of 2026 Premiere Titles Including Cape Fear, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, God Skin, and More

The Fantasia International Film Festival has unveiled its second wave of programming for its landmark 30th edition, offering another massive slate of genre films, anime, thrillers, horror, action, and international cinema set to screen in Montreal from July 16 through August 2, 2026.

Returning to Concordia Hall, J.A. de Sève cinemas, and Montréal's Cinéma du Musée, Fantasia continues to establish itself as one of the world's premier destinations for genre filmmaking. This latest announcement includes major premieres from established filmmakers, rising voices, and highly anticipated projects making their debut on the festival circuit.

Among the headline titles is Nick Antosca's reimagining of Cape Fear, which will receive its World Premiere finale screening at Fantasia. Starring Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson, and Javier Bardem, the Apple TV+ series reinterprets the classic thriller through a new serialized lens. Antosca is expected to attend alongside a special guest.

One of the festival's most anticipated titles is Jane Schoenbrun's Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, arriving fresh from its Cannes debut. Starring Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson, the film follows a young filmmaker tasked with reviving a fading slasher franchise, only to become entangled in a surreal and increasingly dangerous mystery surrounding the original film's star.

Action fans can look forward to Paween Purijitpanya's God Skin, a cyberpunk martial arts thriller that combines Muay Thai combat, dystopian science fiction, and high-tech underground fighting. Choreographed by members of the legendary Panna Stunt Team, the film promises some of the festival's most explosive action sequences.

Eiji Uchida returns with Tokyo Burst: Crime City, a globe-spanning action thriller that pairs a Tokyo detective with a Seoul counterpart as they pursue a dangerous criminal operating across Japan, Korea, and the Philippines. The film blends large-scale action set pieces with buddy-cop comedy and international crime drama.

Body horror fans will have Corpus from first-time feature director Corrin Evans. Starring and co-written by Lily Cowles, the film combines psychological horror, eroticism, and supernatural elements into a surreal exploration of identity, obsession, and desire.

Following a small-town sheriff and deputy confronting increasingly bizarre and terrifying events, the film continues the filmmaking family's streak of Fantasia premieres following Hellbender, Where the Devil Roams, Hell Hole, and Mother of Flies.

Anime and animation remain a major focus of this year's lineup. Highlights include Cherry and Virgin, an animated romantic dramedy about two thirty-something artists navigating intimacy and self-doubt; Zsazsa Zaturnnah, a new animated adaptation of the beloved Filipino cult comic series; and Sekiro: No Defeat, based on FromSoftware's acclaimed video game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Additional standout selections include:
