Fantastic Fest Thriller Body Blow Arrives on Digital and VOD Today

Body Blow brings a neon-soaked queer noir to Digital and VOD following its Fantastic Fest debut.

Fantastic Fest standout Body Blow is now available for audiences to experience at home.

After making its debut on the festival circuit, Dean Francis’ queer crime thriller Body Blow is now available on Digital and Video on Demand from Dark Star Pictures.

Described as a neon-drenched blend of film noir, erotic thriller, and dark comedy, Body Blow transports viewers into Sydney’s criminal underworld through a story built around obsession, betrayal, and murder.

The film stars Tim Pocock (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Tom Rodgers (Joe vs Carol), Sacha Horler (The Dressmaker), Paul Capsis (Head On), and Chris Haywood (Muriel’s Wedding).

The story follows a disgraced police officer who is reassigned to Sydney’s gay nightlife district. What begins as a routine transfer quickly spirals into something far more dangerous after he becomes entangled with a charismatic sex worker and a ruthless drag queen crime boss. As loyalties shift and bodies begin to fall, the investigation evolves into a stylish noir filled with desire, deception, and escalating violence.

Director Dean Francis said partnering with Dark Star Pictures again was the right fit for the film.

Following its Fantastic Fest premiere, Body Blow continues its rollout with today’s digital release. Drawing inspiration from classic crime thrillers while embracing contemporary queer storytelling, the film combines noir aesthetics with the energy of Australian genre cinema.
