“Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Drops New ‘RAGE’ Featurette Ahead of December 5 Release”

Josh Hutcherson and returning animatronics appear in the new Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 “Rage” featurette.
Emma Tammi unleashes new chaos as the animatronics return in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.

Blumhouse has officially dropped a brand-new featurette for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, and if the title “Rage” doesn’t warn you loudly enough… the footage will. The studio is calling it a peek inside the box — and trust us, you absolutely do not want to see what’s in that box.

The sequel to the 2023 juggernaut — the highest-grossing horror film of that year — returns this December with even more animatronic chaos, myth-building, and long-buried nightmares. But what the new featurette confirms is something fans have been whispering online for months: Freddy and friends aren’t confined to the pizzeria anymore. This is a bigger, more aggressive film, and the animatronics are operating at full, unhinged power.

Set one year after the supernatural massacre at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 finds the town turning their trauma into a theme party. Fazfest — the local “celebration” of the legend — becomes the backdrop for this next wave of terror. Meanwhile, Mike (Josh Hutcherson) and Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail) have done everything possible to shield 11-year-old Abby (Piper Rubio) from the truth. But when Abby sneaks off to reconnect with Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, it sets off a chain of events that exposes the real history of Fazbear’s… and the monstrous entity sealed away for decades.

The featurette teases flashes of new environments, upgraded animatronics, and an overwhelming sense that this sequel is leaning harder into horror than the first. Director Emma Tammi returns, working once again from a script by FNAF creator Scott Cawthon — and you can feel them stretching the lore outward. There’s new faces, new villains, and a new threat that ties directly into Freddy’s origin.

And the cast this time around is stacked. Returning players include Theodus Crane and horror legend Matthew Lillard as William Afton, while newcomers include Freddy Carter, Wayne Knight, Mckenna Grace, and Skeet Ulrich — a lineup sure to get every horror fan’s attention.

For those who weren’t sold the first time, FNAF 2 looks like the movie that finally unleashes what the franchise has always promised — pure animatronic mayhem. The featurette’s tone is aggressive, stylish, and drenched in the exact kind of neon-soaked madness fans thrive on.

The film hits theaters December 5, and advance tickets are already live at FiveNightsAtFreddys.movie. If the “Rage” preview is the warning shot, opening night might be a riot.
