Witchy Horror-Comedy Forbidden Fruits Heads to VOD April 28
A new genre-bending title is arriving on digital platforms as Forbidden Fruits, the latest film from Meredith Alloway, prepares for its On Demand debut on April 28, 2026.
The film features an ensemble cast including Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Chamberlain, and Gabrielle Union.
Set within the confined, fluorescent-lit environment of a mall retail store, Forbidden Fruits follows Apple, an employee at Free Eden who secretly leads a clandestine, ritual-driven group operating after hours. Alongside Cherry and Fig, the group presents a curated version of unity and empowerment—one that begins to fracture with the arrival of a new hire, Pumpkin.
As internal tensions rise, the film shifts from stylized satire into darker territory. The narrative examines the dynamic between performance and identity, with the group’s rituals exposing underlying conflict, control, and instability.
Written by Alloway and Lily Houghton, the film blends horror, dark comedy, and psychological elements, placing its characters in a setting that contrasts everyday familiarity with hidden behavior. The use of a retail environment grounds the story while allowing the supernatural and cult-driven aspects to unfold within a controlled space.
Produced by Mason Novick, Diablo Cody, Trent Hubbard, and Mary Anne Waterhouse, the project aligns with a recent wave of films exploring group identity and power structures through genre frameworks.
Forbidden Fruits will be available On Demand beginning April 28.
