Lionsgate Brings Ginger Snaps to 4K With Vestron Collector’s Series Release This May
A cult favorite is returning to physical media as Lionsgate announces a new 4K Ultra HD release of Ginger Snaps as part of the Vestron Collector’s Series (#39), arriving May 19 on 4K UHD + Blu-ray + Digital.
Directed by John Fawcett and written by Karen Walton, Ginger Snaps has remained a defining entry in the werewolf subgenre since its original release. The film stars Emily Perkins and Katharine Isabelle as sisters Brigitte and Ginger, whose bond is tested after a violent encounter with a mysterious creature.
The story uses transformation as both literal and metaphorical, tying Ginger’s physical changes to themes of adolescence, identity, and control. As her behavior becomes increasingly erratic, Brigitte is forced to confront the reality that her sister may not survive the change.
This new Vestron Collector’s Series edition features updated artwork by Chelsea Lowe and a comprehensive slate of bonus content, including:
* Audio commentaries with Fawcett and Walton
* Featurettes exploring the film’s production and thematic elements
* Behind-the-scenes materials, deleted scenes, and archival content
* The Lionsgate-exclusive feature The Pact: Ginger Snaps Forever
Since its release, Ginger Snaps has built a strong following, often cited for its approach to blending coming-of-age themes with horror. Its influence remains visible in later genre films that explore transformation through a personal lens.
The Vestron Collector’s Series continues to highlight cult titles with expanded physical editions, positioning Ginger Snaps as a key addition for collectors and genre fans.
The 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital edition will be available May 19.
