Shazam! and Fall star Grace Caroline Currey is taking the lead in a chilling new horror film titled The Freeze. According to an exclusive report from Deadline, the production company IndustryWorks Studios is launching sales for the film at the upcoming American Film Market (AFM).
In The Freeze, Currey portrays Morgan, a woman whose young son disappears. As her broken family unravels, she clings to a glimmer of hope—and discovers something deeply wrong when a vintage 1940s refrigerator arrives in her home. What seems like a quirky find becomes a slow-creep horror: the freezer begins to sabotage the home, turning the once-safe walls into a frozen prison that may hold the key to her son’s vanishing.
The film is directed by Trevor Mirosh (in his feature debut), and joins Currey in the cast are Milo Gibson, James C. Clayton and Natasha Henstridge. Production was completed in Canada and the project is currently in-post.
For horror fans who’ve followed Currey’s rise—from playing the daughter in Shazam! to battling heights in Fall—this is a smart next step. The premise feels simple on paper but it packs potential: family trauma meets creeping supernatural menace meets domestic terror. The Freeze looks poised to blend emotional stakes with physical dread in a way that feels both modern and classic.
A vintage fridge turning a home into a frozen tomb? That’s the kind of horror that hides in plain sight—and with Currey leading the charge, it’s one to watch.
