‘Halloween’ Multiplayer Gameplay Revealed — And Michael Myers Looks Brutal

The next major entry into horror gaming just gave fans their clearest look yet at how it plans to bring Haddonfield to life.

A new gameplay deep dive for the upcoming Halloween multiplayer title—developed by IllFonic and Gun Interactive—has officially dropped, offering a full breakdown of its asymmetrical multiplayer mode. And based on what’s been shown so far, this is shaping up to be one of the more faithful adaptations of Halloween we’ve seen in gaming.

The seven-minute video showcases a 1v4 experience where players can either take control of survivors trying to navigate the chaos of Haddonfield or step into the role of Michael Myers himself. The setup will feel familiar to fans of the genre, but the execution leans heavily into the tone and pacing of John Carpenter’s original film.

And that’s where the game starts to separate itself.

Instead of turning Myers into a fast-moving, action-heavy killer, the footage emphasizes presence. He stalks. He lingers. And when he attacks, it’s sudden and violent. Environmental destruction plays a big role here, with Myers smashing through doors, cutting down obstacles, and creating constant pressure across the map.

One of the standout mechanics shown is a shadow-based traversal ability—allowing Myers to reposition and reappear in different areas of the map. It’s a clear attempt to recreate the unpredictable “he’s suddenly right there” tension that defines the film.

On the survivor side, players can take on the roles of civilians within Haddonfield, working together to escape, call for help, and survive the night. Characters tied to the franchise, including Dr. Loomis, are also part of the experience, adding a layer of authenticity that fans will immediately recognize.

The developers have made it clear that staying true to the source material is a priority, stating that their goal is to capture the film’s “unsettling sense of dread” within a multiplayer sandbox.

That said, not everything has landed perfectly with early reactions. Some viewers have already pointed out mechanics—like the use of flashlights—as potential balance issues, echoing a familiar complaint in asymmetrical horror games where tools meant for survival can sometimes undercut the threat of the killer.

Still, the overall response to the footage has been strong, with many praising the atmosphere, pacing, and the sheer brutality of Myers’ presence.

The Halloween game is currently slated to release later this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

If the final product delivers on what this gameplay is promising, this could easily become the next major player in the multiplayer horror space.
