Marlon Wayans and Tyriq Withers dig into obsession, control, and the pursuit of greatness
The spotlight reveals more than talent. It exposes what we’re willing to sacrifice to stay under it.
Jordan Peele and Monkeypaw’s latest descent into ambition and manipulation, HIM, is already shaping up to be one of the most psychologically brutal films of the year. And with two new featurettes now online, we’re getting a closer look at the twisted bond at the heart of the story—between a fallen icon and the young athlete drawn into his orbit.
Featurette 1 –
“On HIM” | Marlon Wayans Becomes Isaiah White
In his most disturbing role to date, Marlon Wayans trades his comedic background for something much colder. As Isaiah White, a legendary quarterback turned reclusive mentor, Wayans crafts a character built on legacy, power, and the fear of fading out. The new featurette dives into how Wayans stripped everything back to tap into the horror elements of the film—presenting Isaiah not as a villain, but as a man consumed by the thing that once made him great.
🏈 Featurette 2 – “From Idol to Rival” | Tyriq Withers is Cameron Cade
Tyriq Withers plays Cameron Cade, a rising quarterback who’s spent his entire life idolizing Isaiah White. But when a brutal injury threatens to derail his career, Cameron finds himself under Isaiah’s wing—at a remote training compound that feels more like a temple than a gym. This featurette explores how admiration curdles into fear, and how Withers navigates the shift from hero worship to personal survival.
What Is HIM?
Directed by Justin Tipping (Kicks) and written by Zack Akers & Skip Bronkie (Limetown), HIM follows Cam’s descent into the world of celebrity, discipline, and control. The deeper he trains under Isaiah, the more he loses his grip on who he was before—and what he’s becoming.
The cast includes:
Julia Fox as Elsie White, Isaiah’s influencer wife with her own buried motives
Tim Heidecker and Jim Jefferies in dramatic roles
Maurice Greene, Guapdad 4000, and Tierra Whack in their feature film debuts
Produced by Jordan Peele, Ian Cooper, Win Rosenfeld, and Jamal M. Watson, HIM is less about football and more about the machine around it—where identity is reshaped by fame, influence, and the fear of failure.
