Per Deadline. Jeffrey Soros has officially come aboard Sonja O’Hara’s psychological body-horror thriller Snare as an executive producer, with filming now underway in Los Angeles. The project marks another notable genre-leaning collaboration backed by Soros, CEO of Los Angeles Media Fund, whose recent producing credits include Summertime, Shirley, and Rob Peace.
Written by O’Hara and Adam Hoelzel and directed by O’Hara, Snare centers on a brilliant but volatile mycologist who becomes entangled in an experimental drug trial designed to sever romantic attachments. The catch: the trial is proposed by her self-destructive yet magnetic ex, pulling her into a psychological and bodily spiral that blurs love, obsession, and control. O’Hara also stars in the film, alongside Marissa Bode and Greg Tarzan Davis.
Soros praised the project’s ambition and O’Hara’s vision, calling Snare “a wonderfully original and ambitious project” and expressing confidence that her dedication to craft and work ethic will bring the film fully to life.
The collaboration between Soros and O’Hara has been developing for some time. The Emmy-nominated filmmaker and actress first connected with Soros through Film Independent’s Fast Track marketplace, where he served as a mentor. Their partnership deepened after Snare was selected for the Tribeca Vital Stories Lab, with Soros offering creative guidance throughout the writing process.
For O’Hara, the project is deeply personal. She credited Soros’ involvement as instrumental in shaping the film, noting his ability to support bold, creator-driven work while also championing emerging voices. “He brings both artistic rigor and genuine belief in new voices,” she said, calling him “a true innovator.”
Snare continues O’Hara’s trajectory as one of the more daring voices working at the intersection of psychological thriller and body horror, and with production now underway, it’s a project that firmly lands on the genre radar.
