Lili Reinhart, Danny Ramirez and Suki Waterhouse Lead Psychosexual Horror ‘VIOLET’ From ‘CREEP’ Director Patrick Brice

Lili Reinhart, Danny Ramirez and Suki Waterhouse are set to star in VIOLET, a new psychosexual horror thriller directed by Patrick Brice, the filmmaker behind the CREEP franchise. Mark Duplass and Lukas Gage have also joined the ensemble, with FilmNation Entertainment preparing to launch domestic and international sales at the American Film Market (AFM).

The film is written by Nick Antosca (VERITY, CHANNEL ZERO) and Alana B. Lytle, adapting Antosca's short story Ghostfish. SK Global and Generator Entertainment are producing and financing the project, with production scheduled to begin in spring 2027.

VIOLET follows Sean (Ramirez), a man attempting to rebuild his life two years after the sudden death of his fiancée, Violet (Waterhouse). Having developed a relationship with his childhood friend Kate (Reinhart), Sean appears ready to move forward until the couple moves into the home he once shared with Violet.

Their new beginning takes an unsettling turn when Sean starts receiving disturbing text messages from someone claiming to be his deceased fiancée. As the messages continue, the couple is forced to confront the possibility that Violet's presence may not have disappeared entirely.

The film's premise examines the persistence of digital identities after death, using modern communication technology as the foundation for a supernatural mystery involving grief, relationships and unresolved attachments.

Brice returns to psychological horror after establishing himself with the CREEP franchise, which he co-wrote with Duplass. The filmmaker directed the original 2014 found-footage thriller and its 2017 sequel, both of which featured Duplass as a manipulative stranger whose increasingly disturbing behavior drives the films' suspense.

Brice and Duplass later expanded the franchise with the Shudder television series THE CREEP TAPES, which Brice co-created, co-wrote and directed.

His additional directing credits include the Sundance comedy THE OVERNIGHT, starring Adam Scott, the horror-comedy CORPORATE ANIMALS with Demi Moore, and Netflix's slasher THERE'S SOMEONE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE.

VIOLET also marks another genre project for Antosca, whose work spans psychological horror, supernatural storytelling and television thrillers.

Antosca recently wrote the screenplay for the Colleen Hoover adaptation VERITY, starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, which earned more than $170 million worldwide earlier this year.

His previous credits include creating the horror anthology series CHANNEL ZERO, the Netflix supernatural thriller BRAND NEW CHERRY FLAVOR and Hulu's acclaimed limited series THE ACT. He also wrote ANTLERS, the supernatural horror film adapted from his short story The Quiet Boy, and worked on Apple TV's recent CAPE FEAR adaptation.

The project brings together an ensemble with experience across horror, drama and major studio productions.

Reinhart, best known for her breakout role on RIVERDALE, recently starred in Amazon's THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS. Her additional film credits include HUSTLERS and Netflix's LOOK BOTH WAYS.

Ramirez appeared in TOP GUN: MAVERICK and CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD. His upcoming projects include Todd Haynes' DE NOCHE opposite Pedro Pascal, AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY and Joseph Kosinski's MIAMI VICE '85.

Waterhouse, who portrays the deceased Violet, previously appeared in DAISY JONES & THE SIX, ASSASSINATION NATION and LOVE, ROSIE. She also maintains a recording career and recently released her third studio album, Loveland.

Duplass, who has an established creative partnership with Brice through the CREEP franchise, recently appeared in the horror film BACKROOMS. His other acting credits include THE MORNING SHOW, ZERO DARK THIRTY and BOMBSHELL.

Gage continues expanding his genre filmography following appearances in SMILE 2 and COMPANION. His additional credits include ROAD HOUSE, HOW TO BLOW UP A PIPELINE and PEOPLE WE MEET ON VACATION.

Kelly McKee and Kenneth Browning are producing for Generator Entertainment, alongside Elizabeth Haggard and Dylan Tarason for SK Global. Antosca and Alex Hedlund will produce through Eat the Cat.

Executive producers include Jeannine Tang, Chris Collins, Gemma Levinson and Jackson Stewart. Emmy-nominated casting director Jessica Kelly, whose credits include EUPHORIA, A REAL PAIN and PIECES OF A WOMAN, is overseeing casting.

FilmNation Entertainment will introduce VIOLET to domestic and international buyers at AFM as the production team prepares for its planned spring 2027 shoot.

The film adds another psychological horror project to Brice's directing slate, reuniting him with Duplass while bringing Antosca's supernatural storytelling into a narrative centered on digital communication and the lingering presence of a deceased loved one.

VIOLET is currently in pre-production. A theatrical release date and distribution arrangements have not yet been announced.
