Spanish filmmaker Bruno Martín brings his debut feature Luger to Fantastic Fest 2025, where it will celebrate its World Premiere on Saturday, September 20, at 2:30 PM in Theater 6 as part of the Next Wave competition. Produced by La Dalia Films, the project will compete for both Best Film and Best Director, with a second screening set for Monday, September 22.
The story follows Rafa and Toni, two small-time thugs working under Ángela, a morally flexible lawyer who offers her clients quick solutions outside the law. Tasked with recovering a stolen car, they discover a mysterious safe in the trunk containing a World War II relic: a Luger P08 pistol. The find sets off a chain reaction that draws them deeper into the criminal underworld, where very dangerous figures will stop at nothing to possess the weapon.
Martín cites late-80s arcade classics as a key inspiration:
“I can’t forget the late-80s video games like Double Dragon or Final Fight, which directly shaped the narrative and aesthetics I tried to bring to the film.”
Luger’s world premiere will put a spotlight on Martín’s stylized vision and further underscores Fantastic Fest’s commitment to introducing bold international voices in genre cinema.

Screenings:
