Mickey Keating's Crooks Unveils First Teaser Ahead of Tribeca World Premiere

A brand-new teaser trailer and poster have arrived for Mickey Keating's latest feature, Crooks, ahead of its World Premiere at the 2026 Tribeca Festival on June 7.

Written and directed by Keating, the filmmaker behind genre favorites Darling and Carnage Park, Crooks takes a sharp turn into crime thriller territory while retaining the stylish atmosphere that has become a hallmark of his work.

Set against the gritty backdrop of Chicago's criminal underworld, the film follows a chain of betrayals that spirals into a dangerous game involving gangsters, assassins, thieves, and professional killers. According to the official synopsis, the story begins when Faye and Johnny successfully rob a local gangster's poker room. Before the dust can settle, Faye double-crosses her partner, disappears with the money, and finds herself hunted by a legendary hitman.

Things become even more complicated when her getaway is interrupted by car trouble, forcing her to seek refuge at a rundown roadside diner. There she encounters Blanche, a seemingly friendly waitress whose own secrets may prove just as dangerous as the criminals closing in around them.

The newly released teaser leans heavily into noir-inspired visuals, moody lighting, and escalating tension, offering a glimpse into a world where trust is a luxury few can afford. The footage suggests a crime thriller built on shifting loyalties and unpredictable encounters, with Keating embracing a more grounded but still highly stylized approach.

The cast includes Angela Trimbur, Chase Williamson, Melora Walters, and Keith Kupferer. The film is produced by Veronica Barbosa, Eddie Linker, and Gregory Thomas.

While Keating has built his reputation through psychological horror and genre experimentation, Crooks appears poised to showcase a different side of his filmmaking voice. The teaser hints at a tense and character-driven thriller packed with deception, violence, and noir sensibilities.

Crooks will make its World Premiere at the Tribeca Festival on June 7.
