Millicent Simmonds is stepping into a new creative role with Grace, an upcoming crime thriller that will mark the first feature film from Inevitable Studios.

According to Deadline, the A Quiet Place star has co-written the screenplay and will also headline the project, which centers on a deaf teenager uncovering dangerous secrets hidden within her family's past.

The film comes from filmmakers Ari Costa and Eren Celeboglu, who previously directed the 2023 horror film All Fun and Games starring Asa Butterfield and Natalie Dyer.

Described as a long-developing passion project, Grace has been in development with Simmonds, Costa, and Celeboglu for the past three years.

The story follows a deaf teenager who begins unraveling violent truths buried deep within her family's history, setting the stage for a tense crime thriller built around mystery, identity, and generational secrets.

The project will serve as the debut feature from Inevitable Studios, the newly launched production banner created by the founders of Inevitable Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting disabled creatives and stories that place disabled individuals at the center of the narrative.

Richie Siegel, Marissa Torelli-Pedevska, and Clarence Hammond will produce for Inevitable Studios alongside Simmonds, Costa, and Celeboglu. Olivia Handrahan will oversee production on behalf of the studio.

Production is scheduled to begin early next year.

In a statement, Inevitable Studios producers Siegel and Torelli-Pedevska emphasized the project's creative mission.

"Grace is exactly the kind of film we started Inevitable Studios to make. It's a commercial story first that happens to center a deaf protagonist. We're incredibly proud to be bringing this project to life with Millicent, Ari, and Eren and can't wait for people to see it."

Simmonds has become one of the most recognizable performers working in genre entertainment following her breakout role as Regan Abbott in John Krasinski's A Quiet Place franchise. She appeared in both A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II and is expected to reprise her role in A Quiet Place Part III, which is currently in production.

Most recently, Simmonds starred in Pretty Lethal, a ballet-themed action thriller that premiered on Prime Video after debuting at SXSW.

Outside of film, she has also appeared in Todd Haynes' Wonderstruck and made her Broadway debut in Grey House alongside Tatiana Maslany.

Behind the camera, Costa brings years of experience as Senior Vice President of Film and Television at AGBO, having worked on projects including the Avengers films and the Extraction franchise. Celeboglu previously worked under television creator Bill Lawrence, writing and directing episodes of Scrubs and Cougar Town before transitioning into feature filmmaking.

With a strong creative team attached and a story centered on a deaf protagonist without defining the project solely through disability, Grace adds another notable title to the growing slate of elevated thrillers currently in development.
