Mutant Unveils ‘Widow’s Bay’ Soundtrack Vinyl Box Set, LP and CD
David Fleming’s Emmy Award-winning score for Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay is getting its first physical release, with Mutant announcing a collection that includes a limited-edition vinyl box set, standard double-LP and CD.
Produced in partnership with Apple TV and Milan Records, the physical editions will be available for preorder beginning Friday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. PT through Made By Mutant.
Fleming’s 27-track soundtrack accompanies the supernatural series set in Widow’s Bay, an isolated New England island community where local folklore begins colliding with the town’s efforts to reinvent itself.
Matthew Rhys stars as Mayor Tom Loftis, who is determined to revive the struggling community despite unsettling legends resurfacing around the island. The series was created and executive produced by Katie Dippold, with Hiro Murai directing and executive producing.
Fleming’s score combines atmospheric synthesizers, strings, vocal textures and more aggressive horror cues while navigating the series’ mixture of supernatural horror, comedy and mystery.
“We are thrilled to be releasing Widow’s Bay across three physical formats,” Mutant co-founder Spencer Hickman said in a statement. “Katie Dippold gifted us a living, breathing world that was meticulously mapped out, and David’s score is so beautiful and strange making our job an absolute breeze.”
The centerpiece of the release is the $100 collector’s box set featuring artwork by David Seidman, expanding on his original key art for the series.
The soundtrack is pressed across two 140-gram records on “Sea Hag” blue and forest green colored vinyl, with an etched fourth side. Liner notes from Dippold and Fleming are also included.
The box set expands beyond the soundtrack with several pieces of physical memorabilia drawn from the world of Widow’s Bay. Extras include a 20-page “Your Turn” book with dust cover, a 25-card reproduction of the “Run” card game, a 12-by-20-inch “Cannibalism in God’s House” newsprint reproduction, “Sunset Cocktails” invitation, mayoral letterhead and a “Don’t Say We Didn’t Warren You” poster reproduction.
A $45 standard vinyl edition will also be available, featuring Seidman’s artwork and two 140-gram blue-and-green swirl records. Like the collector’s edition, the standard release includes an etched D-side and liner notes from Dippold and Fleming.
For listeners looking for a more straightforward physical edition, Mutant is also releasing the complete soundtrack on CD for $15, again featuring Seidman’s artwork and liner notes from the series creator and composer.
All three editions contain Fleming’s complete 27-track score. Tracks include “Fog,” “The Stone Room,” “The Island,” “Welcome to Widow’s Bay!,” “The Sea Hag,” “Sunset Cocktails,” “Warrenton 1702,” “Beneath the Floorboards,” “The Curse,” “Memento Mori,” “Boogeyman,” “The Storm” and closing track “Come Back Soon!”
The release continues Mutant’s focus on physical editions that treat film and television scores as collectible extensions of their respective worlds, with the Widow’s Bay box set particularly leaning into the mythology and artifacts established throughout the series.
