Netflix continues to expand its growing animation slate, and one announcement immediately caught our attention.

The streaming giant has unveiled a first look at Ghostbusters: Night Shift, a brand-new animated series set in the iconic Ghostbusters universe that is currently scheduled to debut in 2027.

Set in New York City in 1994, the series picks up five years after the Ghostbusters famously brought the Statue of Liberty to life in Ghostbusters II.

According to the official logline, a new wave of supernatural terror begins sweeping through the city, forcing an unlikely group of young New Yorkers to step up and become the next generation of ghost hunters.

The catch?

They’re untrained, underappreciated, and partially responsible for the problem they’re about to face.

The series follows a scrappy team of young heroes who will have to suit up, overcome their fears, and learn how to wield proton packs as they battle supernatural threats throughout the Big Apple.

The project also brings together an impressive producing team. Executive producers include Ben Hibon, Elliott Kalan, Jason Reitman, Gil Kenan, Amie Karp, and original Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd.
