EDDINGTON Offers First Behind-the-Scenes Look Ahead of July Release—“It Felt Dangerous in All the Right Ways,” Says Pedro Pascal
We’ve been sounding the alarm about Eddington for weeks now, and A24 just turned up the heat. Today, the studio released an exclusive behind-the-scenes preview of Ari Aster’s incendiary new feature—a modern western brewing with tension, mistrust, and some of the most stacked casting we’ve seen all year.
In the sneak peek, stars Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Austin Butler, and Luke Grimes join Aster in unpacking the film’s volatile atmosphere, complex characters, and eerie relevance. Shot in the dead heat of a fictional New Mexico town at the height of pandemic-fueled paranoia, Eddington explores how fragile communities can crumble when politics, fear, and ego collide.
Don’t forget to check out the new poster—it’s a visual gut punch.
Pedro Pascal—who plays the town’s calculating mayor—calls the experience “dangerous in all the right ways,” while Phoenix’s performance as the brooding small-town sheriff looks to be a career highlight in a film already boiling with menace.
Here’s the setup:
May 2020. Eddington, New Mexico.
A standoff between a sheriff (Phoenix) and mayor (Pascal) ignites long-buried resentment across a quarantined town. Mistrust festers, loyalties fracture, and what starts as political posturing morphs into survival warfare. Emma Stone, Austin Butler, and Luke Grimes round out a dangerously tight ensemble in a story that feels like Dog Day Afternoon by way of Red State.
Directed and written by Ari Aster (Midsommar, Beau is Afraid), Eddington continues his exploration of collective dread—only now, the horror isn’t supernatural. It’s us.
