Severin Films Celebrates 20 Years With 2026 Super-Shock Pop-Up Festival in Los Angeles
Twenty years of cult cinema, physical media, and cinematic insanity calls for something a little more ambitious than a birthday cake.
Severin Films is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the return of the Super-Shock Pop-Up Festival, an all-day event taking over Brain Dead Studios in Los Angeles on August 22.
And Severin isn’t telling audiences exactly what they’re going to see.
The centerpiece of this year’s celebration will be a Mystery Quartet featuring four unreleased new titles, with the films remaining secret until they’re revealed at the festival. Severin is also promising Super-Special Surprise Guests connected to its two decades of releases, productions, and genre filmmaking.

For longtime Severin collectors, that mystery should be a significant part of the fun.
Founded in 2006, the company has spent the past two decades digging through the stranger corners of international genre cinema while becoming one of physical media’s most recognizable boutique labels. The anniversary event looks designed to bring that same collector and discovery mentality into a theatrical setting.
The screenings are only part of the day.
Presented in association with Cinematic Void and Rendezvous, the Super-Shock Pop-Up will also feature previews of upcoming Severin trailers and promos, complimentary swag, DJ sets from Rendezvous before and between screenings, and what the company describes as an “epic” merchandise table.
Members of Severin’s international team will also be on hand throughout the event.
Severin co-founder and CEO David Gregory describes the celebration as an opportunity to recognize the community that has supported the company throughout its 20-year run.
Gregory calls the festival “an unprecedented event that honors two decades of what Severin Films does best: celebrating fans, film and good yet not-entirely-clean fun.”
That sounds about right for Severin.
Boutique physical media has become an increasingly important part of genre fandom, particularly as collectors look for restored editions, previously difficult-to-find films, extensive supplemental material, and movies that might otherwise disappear into the streaming shuffle. Severin’s longevity puts the company squarely within that movement, making an anniversary built around four completely unknown screenings an appropriate way to celebrate.
And with all four titles currently unreleased, there is plenty of room for speculation about exactly what Severin plans to unveil.
Doors for the 2026 Severin Films Super-Shock Pop-Up Festival open at 12:00 p.m. on August 22, with festivities beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Brain Dead Studios, 611 N Fairfax Ave., Los Angeles.
