Shudder is keeping the drive-in spirit alive.

The horror streaming platform has announced four all-new specials of the cult favorite The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs that will debut quarterly through the end of 2026. The news arrives just ahead of the show’s celebratory series finale, which airs live tonight, Friday, March 6 at 9 p.m. ET on Shudder and AMC+.

For longtime fans — affectionately known as “Drive-In Mutants” — the finale will feature the familiar double-feature format that made the series a modern horror institution. Host Joe Bob Briggs and co-host Darcy the Mail Girl will take one final ride through the weird and wonderful corners of genre cinema while also reflecting on seven special years of the show’s run.

The finale will also be available to stream on demand beginning Sunday, March 8.

But while the series itself may be ending, the drive-in isn’t closing its gates.

Shudder confirmed that four special events will keep the tradition going, beginning with Joe Bob’s Wicked Witchy Wingding, which premieres live April 24 at 9 p.m. ET as part of Shudder’s annual “Halfway to Halloween” programming event.

The special promises a double feature packed with occult-themed films, continuing Joe Bob and Darcy’s ongoing crusade to make Walpurgisnacht — the traditional European celebration of witches — an official American horror holiday.

Fans are encouraged to show up appropriately prepared.

“RSVP and BYOB — Bring Your Own Broom,” as the announcement puts it.

Like the main series, the special will air live before becoming available on demand two days later, on April 26.

Since debuting in 2018, The Last Drive-In has become one of Shudder’s signature titles. The show’s original 13-movie marathon famously crashed Shudder’s servers, earning the program a reputation as one of the most beloved genre celebrations in modern streaming.

Courtney Thomasma, EVP of Linear and Streaming Products, acknowledged the show’s impact in the announcement.

“Joe Bob Briggs has been a Shudder staple since 2018, when his original 13-movie marathon broke the internet,” Thomasma said. “Since then, he and Darcy the Mail Girl have continued to delight Shudder fans with double features and seasonal specials tailored to horror buffs and cinephiles alike.”

Produced by Matt Manjourides and Justin Martell of Not The Funeral Home and directed by Austin Jennings, the show has remained a cornerstone of Shudder’s identity, blending drive-in nostalgia with deep genre knowledge, cult film appreciation, and Joe Bob’s signature commentary.

Even as the regular series comes to an end, these upcoming specials make it clear that the drive-in experience isn’t going anywhere.

It’s just getting a few more late-night screenings.
