Slashercise Brings 1980s Aerobics and Slasher Mayhem to BloodStream This July
Get your leg warmers ready because Slashercise is about to turn workout culture into a blood-soaked nightmare.
BloodStream has announced the exclusive premiere of Slashercise, filmmaker Ama Lea's neon-drenched horror comedy that blends 1980s fitness videos, practical gore, and classic slasher energy into one outrageous package. The film will debut exclusively for BloodStream subscribers on July 1, 2026.
Written and directed by Ama Lea (Deathcember), Slashercise follows a masked killer known only as Meathead, who begins terrorizing the fitness clubs of Los Angeles. As celebrity trainers and workout enthusiasts begin disappearing one by one, a group of determined fitness fanatics must fight back before they become the next victims.
The film embraces its VHS-era inspirations, combining outrageous kills, synth-driven music, practical effects, and high-energy aerobics routines into a surreal homage to 1980s pop culture.
The ensemble cast is stacked with genre veterans and familiar faces, including Vanessa Decker (Terrifier 2), John Bloom (The Hills Have Eyes), Spencer Charnas (Ice Nine Kills Presents: Welcome to Horrorwood), Sarah French (Blind), Kelli Maroney (Night of the Comet), Sarah Nicklin (The Black Mass), Diana Prince (The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs), Jared Rivet (The Once and Future Smash), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Tiffany Shepis (Victor Crowley), and Lisa Wilcox (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master).
Filmmaker Ama Lea described the project as "a blood-soaked love letter to 1980s workout videos and slasher movies."
Star Vanessa Decker added, "We never set out to make a traditional fitness video. We wanted to create an experience horror fans could laugh with, sweat through, and revisit again and again."
BloodStream Acquisitions Executive Heidi Honeycutt says the film perfectly fits the platform's identity.

The trailer and promotional materials lean heavily into the nostalgia factor, embracing bright neon colors, absurd humor, and over-the-top slasher violence that should appeal to fans of cult horror and retro aesthetics.
After its exclusive streaming debut on July 1, Slashercise will expand to additional platforms beginning October 1.
