Occult Horror Meets Spaghetti Western in Souls Chapel, Now on VOD and DVD
A genre blend rooted in folklore and Americana arrives for home viewing as Souls Chapel, the latest feature from Jack C. Young, is now available across VOD platforms and DVD in North America.
Released through MTS Pictures and distributed by Desktop Entertainment, the film combines elements of occult horror with the visual and thematic influence of classic Spaghetti Westerns.
Set in an undefined, post-frontier landscape, Souls Chapel follows Ray, a drifter traveling through the hills of Kentucky. His journey takes a turn after encountering a mysterious entity that offers him gold in exchange for retrieving two sacred icons. Accepting the task, Ray is eventually forced to take shelter in a remote church during a violent storm.
The location becomes the center of the film’s tension.
Inside Souls Chapel, Ray begins to uncover signs that the clergy and the land itself are tied to something far more dangerous. The narrative builds around isolation, mistrust, and the presence of dark forces rooted in belief and ritual.
Young not only directs but also stars in the film, drawing influence from Western archetypes in shaping his character. The cast also includes Brian Bremer, Adriana Curtsinger, Jeremy Boggs, Gage Carnes, Joseph McDowell, and Molly Gill.
The screenplay is written by D.W. Daring, who also produces alongside Robert Bess and Young. The production leans into regional folklore and historical inspiration, specifically referencing early 1900s accounts of a reverend associated with occult practices.
Visually, the film merges Western landscapes with horror staging—open terrain contrasted by confined, shadow-heavy interiors—placing its supernatural elements within a grounded setting.
