Magnolia Pictures has secured the U.S. rights to Good Boy, the shocking new English-language debut from Corpus Christi director Jan Komasa, following its acclaimed world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Produced by Jeremy Thomas (Sexy Beast), Ewa Piaskowska (Essential Killing), and legendary Polish auteur Jerzy Skolimowski (EO), the film stars Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough, and Anson Boon in a twisted tale of abduction, control, and psychological torment.

Described as a brutal, slow-burn horror-thriller, Good Boy follows nineteen-year-old hooligan Tommy (Anson Boon), whose nights of partying, violence, and self-destruction take a turn when he’s kidnapped during a wild bender by a mysterious stranger (Stephen Graham). When he wakes, he’s chained in the basement of a suburban family home belonging to Chris (Graham), his spectral wife Kathryn (Andrea Riseborough), and their young son Jonathan (Kit Rakusen). The family claims they want to “reform” Tommy through a series of twisted lessons in obedience and morality, forcing him into a nightmarish battle of wills where escape could cost him everything.

Good Boy also stars Kit Rakusen (The Phoenician Scheme), Savannah Steyn (House of the Dragon), Austin Haynes (Unforgivable), and Monika Frajczyk, with a screenplay penned by Bartek Bartosik and Naqqash Khalid (In Camera). Komasa, known for his emotionally charged visual storytelling, brings the same intensity and intelligence that made Corpus Christi an Academy Award nominee — but this time in service of something far darker.

HanWay Films, handling international sales, continues to expand Good Boy’s global reach with newly confirmed distribution deals across the UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, and beyond. Territories now on board include Signature Entertainment in the UK and Ireland, X Verleih in Germany, Minerva Pictures in Italy, YouPlanet/Caramel Films in Spain, Sundae in Japan, and Kino Świat in Poland, among many others.

“Magnolia has an incredible track record in releasing original films from some of the world’s most exciting filmmakers,” said Gabrielle Stewart, CEO of HanWay Films. “We could not have better partners for Jan Komasa’s Good Boy.” Producer Jeremy Thomas added, “So delighted to be working again with Eamonn Bowles and his super pro group at Magnolia who’ve given us such great results in the past and thrilled to be continuing our relationship.”

With its chilling blend of psychological realism and social horror, Good Boy cements Komasa as one of the most fearless contemporary filmmakers working today. Fueled by Stephen Graham’s unnerving restraint and Andrea Riseborough’s cold, ghostly presence, the film turns the concept of rehabilitation into a horrifying morality play.

HanWay continues to sell Good Boy at the American Film Market, where buzz is already building for what critics are calling one of the most unnerving psychological thrillers of the season.
