Fresh off its SXSW win for Narrative Feature Special Jury Award, FTOYS—a psychosexual, tarot-fueled trip through the underbelly of a pre-millennium fever dream—is rolling into Dallas for its Texas hometown premiere. The film will screen Saturday, June 28 at 8:00 PM CT at the historic Texas Theatre as part of the Oak Cliff Film Festival. And if you missed the madness in Austin, this is your shot to witness it under the neon lights.
Written, directed, and starring Annapurna Sriram, FTOYS is a sensory overload of camp, class warfare, and cursed cosmic promises. Shot on lush 16mm and stitched together like a tarot deck from hell, the film centers on AP, a wide-eyed dreamer cursed and broke, who’s told by multiple psychics that she can break her misfortune—for just $1000… and a baby lamb. Naturally, she grabs her scooter and dives into Trashtown, navigating sex work, scammers, and surreal social rot in search of liberation.
This is The Fool’s Journey like you’ve never seen it—if Alice in Wonderland had a side hustle on Backpage and tarot cards bled glitter and regret.
With a stacked cast that includes Big Freedia, Sadie Scott, François Arnaud, Brandon Flynn, and Damian Young, and a creative team led by DoP Cory Fraiman-Lott, Editor Lilly Wild, and Production Designer Nichole McMinn, FTOYS is the kind of midnight-ritual-meets-class-critique genre-bender we live for.
🎟 Tickets for the Oak Cliff screening are available now at oakclifffilmfestival.com.
Trust us—you don’t want to miss FTOYS in a theater this weird, with a crowd this game.
