‘The Cycle’ Trailer Unravels a 36-Year Mystery Ahead of October Shudder Premiere
The past refuses to stay buried in the official trailer for The Cycle, Jordan Downey’s supernatural mystery thriller following its world premiere at Fantastic Fest 2026.
Shudder will release The Cycle on Oct. 23, bringing the latest film from Downey to streaming audiences after its festival debut. Deborah Ann Woll leads an ensemble cast that includes Jeffrey Donovan, Will Hochman, Jack Doolan, Carl W. Crudup, Jeb Berrier, Gretchen Corbett and David Myers Gregory.
The story begins with a discovery decades in the making. When the body of a man who disappeared 36 years earlier is found at the scene of a horrific crime, his estranged daughter is forced to investigate the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and the secrets he left behind.
What initially presents itself as a mystery surrounding a long-missing man gradually opens the door to something darker as the investigation begins connecting the past with a new and disturbing crime.
Downey directs The Cycle from a screenplay he co-wrote with Kevin Stewart. The film builds its mystery around fractured family relationships, buried history and the consequences of uncovering answers that may have remained hidden for a reason.
The new trailer offers audiences a closer look at the film following its Fantastic Fest world premiere, where The Cycle emerged as one of the festival’s genre discoveries.
