"What Remains" c/o Mubi

VMI has just released the official trailer for Ran Huang's highly anticipated thriller, "What Remains." The film delves into the dark and twisted journey of a detective, an alleged serial killer, and his therapist, all striving to solve a brutal cold case. As their obsessive quest for the truth intensifies, it threatens to consume them all.

"What Remains" boasts a stellar cast, including Gustaf Skarsgård ("Vikings"), Andrea Riseborough ("To Leslie"), and Stellan Skarsgård ("Dune: Part Two"). Set during the 1990s in a Scandinavian psychiatric hospital, the story revolves around Mads Lake, a man who confessed to multiple murders and was subsequently convicted. However, the uneasy alliance between Mads, his therapist Anna Rudebeck, and policeman Soren Rank reveals that they all have a vested interest in uncovering the truth. Their deepening co-dependency only adds to the tension and drama.

Inspired by true events, "What Remains" promises to be a riveting exploration of the human psyche and the lengths people will go to for the truth. The film is directed by Ran Huang and written by Ran Huang and Megan Everett-Skarsgard.

"What Remains" will be available in theaters and on demand starting June 21st. Watch the trailer below and let us know in the comments what you think of "What Remains."
