‘Train to Busan’ Celebrates 10th Anniversary With 4K Remastered Box Set

A decade after Train to Busan emerged as an international genre hit, Yeon Sang-ho’s zombie thriller is returning with a new home entertainment release celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Well Go USA Entertainment will release Train to Busan: 10th Anniversary Remastered & Revived as a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray box set and on DVD December 15. The anniversary edition will include new and archival bonus material, including two audio commentary tracks, behind-the-scenes features and a 28-minute Q&A with Yeon. The film is available digitally now.
Directed by Yeon, Train to Busan follows a father and daughter whose trip becomes a fight for survival after a zombie outbreak spreads across South Korea. Trapped aboard a speeding train with other survivors, the passengers attempt to reach safety as the infection rapidly moves through the country.
The 2016 film stars Gong Yoo, Jung Yu-mi, Ma Dong-seok and Kim Su-an and became one of the most internationally recognized South Korean genre films of its decade. Its combination of large-scale zombie action, confined train sequences and family drama helped the film reach audiences well beyond its domestic market.
Train to Busan also accumulated several festival and genre awards following its release. Its honors included the Audience Award for Best Feature at the San Sebastián Horror and Fantasy Film Festival, while Yeon received Best Director and the film received recognition for its special effects at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia. The film also earned awards from Toronto After Dark and the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, including a Best Actor honor for Gong Yoo.
The new anniversary release expands on the film with material covering its production and legacy. Both the 4K UHD and feature Blu-ray include audio commentary with Yeon and members of the cast, along with a separate commentary featuring the director and crew. English and Spanish language options will also be available.
A second Blu-ray dedicated to supplemental material includes a 28-minute Q&A between Yeon and film critic Katie Rife, a making-of feature, archival behind-the-scenes material and a collection of trailers. Those include a new 2026 U.S. trailer alongside the original 2016 U.S. trailer, international trailer and teaser.
The DVD edition will feature the Yeon Q&A and both commentary tracks along with a 13-minute behind-the-scenes feature, the five-minute That’s a Wrap featurette and the collection of trailers.
The anniversary arrives 10 years after Train to Busan first introduced audiences to Yeon’s live-action zombie world. The filmmaker later returned to the setting with Peninsula, released in 2020.
The original film remains centered on the relationship between father Seok-woo, played by Gong Yoo, and his young daughter Su-an, played by Kim Su-an, as an ordinary birthday trip becomes a desperate journey through an outbreak. Ma Dong-seok and Jung Yu-mi are among the passengers caught in the escalating crisis aboard the train.
With the new release, Well Go USA is revisiting the film with a physical edition aimed at both longtime fans and collectors interested in the additional production material.
Train to Busan: 10th Anniversary Remastered & Revived is available digitally now and arrives on 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray and DVD December 15.
