Tribeca 2026: Henry Chaisson’s Horror Debut Recluse Holds World Premiere

One of the horror titles making its debut at the 2026 Tribeca Festival is Recluse, the feature directorial debut from filmmaker Henry Chaisson. The horror mystery thriller celebrated its World Premiere on Thursday, June 4, with cast and crew in attendance.

Photos from the premiere showcased the team behind the project, which stars Sasha Frolova, Xander Berkeley, Toby Poser, Mia Vallet, Kimball Farley, and Frankie Seratch.

Written and directed by Chaisson, Recluse follows Joan, an audio engineer who returns to her childhood home after being called back to care for her bedridden father. What begins as a difficult family obligation quickly evolves into something far more unsettling as Joan finds herself confronting buried secrets connected to her family’s past.

As she settles back into the home, strange events begin to mount, forcing her to question whether an unseen presence has been haunting the property for years. As the mystery deepens, Joan uncovers disturbing connections between her family’s history and a dark force that appears determined to make itself known.

The film blends elements of psychological horror, supernatural mystery, and family trauma, centering much of its tension around an isolated setting where past and present collide.

Recluse was produced by Josh Lobo, Gillian Cooper, Alex Dandino, Henry Chaisson, and Katharina Windemuth.

The project also marks another notable genre appearance for Toby Poser, who genre fans will recognize from her acclaimed collaborations with the Adams Family filmmaking collective on titles including Hellbender, Where the Devil Roams, and Mother of Flies.

With its combination of haunted family history, occult undertones, and atmospheric dread, Recluse arrives at Tribeca as one of the festival’s intriguing horror offerings. Horror Movies Uncut will continue following the film as it moves through the festival circuit and toward future release plans.

Recluse held its World Premiere at the Tribeca Festival on June 4, 2026.
