Vietnamese Folk Horror Film ‘The 10th House’ Heads to Cannes Film Market

Vietnam-based Skyline Media has acquired worldwide sales rights to The 10th House, a new Vietnamese folk horror feature from ProductionQ that will be introduced to buyers during the Cannes Film Market.

The project comes from director-producer duo Tran Huu Tan and Hoang Quan.

The film draws inspiration from Vietnamese folk beliefs involving hidden spells allegedly placed within homes during construction. According to the synopsis, the story follows a young man who begins documenting unsettling incidents inside his house following the unexplained death of his father. As he investigates further, he uncovers a forbidden ritual connected to the property and a series of violent supernatural events tied to it.

The acquisition continues Skyline Media and ProductionQ’s recent involvement in internationally recognized Vietnamese horror projects.

Vietnamese Horror Story became Vietnam’s highest-grossing horror film of 2022 and later screened at the Gérardmer International Fantastic Film Festival in France after releasing in more than 45 territories.

The companies followed that release with The Soul Reaper, which surpassed the commercial performance of its predecessor before later being acquired by Netflix for Southeast Asian distribution.

Another recent title, The Sisters, screened in the Limelight section of the International Film Festival Rotterdam and became the highest-grossing Vietnamese period horror film on record.

The 10th House enters a market that has seen continued international interest in Asian supernatural and found footage horror films, including Incantation, The Medium, and Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.
