The 2025 La Femme Film Festival wrapped its milestone year by honoring Alaskan filmmaker Zoe Quist with the Best Feature Director award for her vibrant paranormal sci-fi comedy GLITCHED. The win marks a major career highlight for Quist, whose latest film blends genre, humor, and innovation in a way few others have dared.
Shot entirely in Ireland, GLITCHED stars Mischa Barton (The O.C.), Abigail O’Reagan (Spellbound), Jack McEvoy (Vikings), and Elijah Rowen (Vikings). The film follows twins Finley and Shannon as they stumble into a malfunctioning VR game that opens a supernatural portal, pulling them into a mission to save their grandmother’s castle.
Described by festivalgoers as “The Matrix for kids,” GLITCHED merges fantasy adventure with contemporary sci-fi spectacle — delivering a heartfelt family story amid the chaos of digital distortion.
Produced by Maria O’Neill p.g.a. (The Black Guelph), Susan Wright p.g.a., and Zoe Quist, the film showcases the power of global collaboration. Backed by Irish production company Bon Films, the project united a cross-continental team: Casting Director Dea Vise (Los Angeles), Cinematographer Aiden Gault (Ireland), Post-Production by Raygun (Ireland), and VFX from Glass Knight (Ireland).
For Quist — known for her dark thriller Raw Cut and the romantic drama Mining for Ruby — GLITCHED represents an artistic evolution. While her earlier work thrived on tension and emotion, her latest outing embraces playfulness and wonder, proving she can shift tones without losing her signature depth.
In accepting the award, Quist credited her cast, crew, and the festival for championing female filmmakers who “push visual storytelling beyond expectation.”
GLITCHED is poised for wider recognition on the international circuit, with upcoming screenings planned in Europe and North America.
