‘213 Bones’ Sets U.S. Premiere at Screamfest With a Blood-Soaked ’90s Slasher

‘213 Bones’ Brings ’90s Slasher Horror to Screamfest for U.S. Premiere

213 Bones, the feature directorial debut and final film from late filmmaker Jeffrey Primm, is heading to Hollywood for its U.S. premiere.

The Horror Collective announced that the throwback slasher will screen at the 26th annual Screamfest Horror Film Festival on Monday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood.

Set in the Pacific Northwest in 1993, 213 Bones follows a group of anthropology students whose studies take a considerably darker turn when human bones and personal belongings begin appearing around their college campus. As the discoveries mount, the students realize that a masked killer is targeting them, turning late-night study sessions into a race to identify the murderer before the group is eliminated.

Luna Fujimoto (Blade of the 47 Ronin), Hunter Nance (Beyond the Rush), Colin Egglesfield (Something Borrowed, The Client List), Liam Woodrum (Geek Girl) and Dean Cameron (Summer School) lead the ensemble. The cast also includes Francesca Barker McCormick, Sarah Brooks, Toni Weiss, Simone Lockhart, Allegra Sweeney, Elizabeth O’Brien and Mason Kennerly.

The Screamfest screening follows the film’s world premiere at FrightFest in London and carries additional significance for the filmmakers. Primm died before he could see the film make its world premiere, leaving 213 Bones as his first and final feature.

“Bringing 213 Bones to Screamfest for its U.S. Premiere feels exactly right,” Entertainment Squad CEO Shaked Berenson said in a statement. “Jeffrey made this movie for audiences who love the fun, mystery and theatrical experience of a great slasher. We are proud to celebrate his work with horror fans on the big screen in Hollywood.”

Producer John Michaels similarly described the Screamfest premiere as an opportunity to celebrate Primm’s work with the audience for which the movie was created.

“This screening is incredibly meaningful to everyone who helped Jeffrey bring the film to life,” Michaels said. “He loved the slasher genre and poured that love into every frame. Watching an audience experience the movie together is the best way we can honor him and his vision.”

While its campus murder mystery places 213 Bones firmly within slasher territory, the production is also leaning into its 1993 setting through a soundtrack built around alternative, grunge, industrial and pop music from the era.

The film features music from Chris Cornell, Soundgarden, Duran Duran, Ministry, Melvins, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Meat Puppets, The Breeders, Veruca Salt, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Bananarama. The collection gives the film another connection to the decade it is recreating beyond its costumes, setting and genre influences.

Primm directed 213 Bones from a screenplay he co-wrote with Dominic Arcelin. Michaels and Tyler Jon Olson produced, with Joyce Schweikert serving as executive producer.

The Horror Collective has acquired worldwide rights to the film, while Studio Dome is handling international sales. Additional release information is expected to be announced at a later date.

The U.S. premiere also places 213 Bones among the first wave of films announced for Screamfest’s 2026 program, which runs Oct. 6-15 at the TCL Chinese Theatre complex in Los Angeles.

For a movie deliberately reaching back to an era when masked killers, college campuses and theatrical horror were a reliable combination, Screamfest will provide 213 Bones with its first U.S. audience on the big screen.
