The Trailer for Shelby Oaks Has Arrived—And It’s Heating Up the Internet

The big news out of the genre world last week was the long-awaited release of the official trailer for Shelby Oaks, the feature directorial debut of popular film critic and short filmmaker Chris Stuckmann. Executive produced by horror heavyweight Mike Flanagan, the film centers on a woman’s obsessive search for her long-lost sister—only to uncover terrifying clues that suggest the imaginary demon from their childhood might have been real all along.

First reactions to the film have been positive, but it was the trailer that really set social media ablaze over the weekend and into Monday, ramping up anticipation for its October 3rd release via NEON.

Shelby Oaks boasts an impressive cast of genre favorites, including Keith David, Derek Mears, Michael Beach, Emily Bennett, and Robin Bartlett, with Camille Sullivan in the lead role.

Official Synopsis:

A woman’s desperate search for her long-lost sister falls into obsession upon realizing that the imaginary demon from their childhood may have been real.

A Little Background on Chris Stuckmann:

Born on April 15, 1988 in Akron, Ohio, Chris Stuckmann discovered his love for film through childhood favorites like Star Wars, Back to the Future, and The Princess Bride. As a teen, he began making his own short films with friends, eventually creating two feature-length projects—calling those formative years “one of the best times of his life.”

When YouTube launched in 2005, Chris used the platform to share his passion for film, first through short films and drawing videos, and eventually through his now massively successful “Chris Stuckmann” channel, where he established himself as one of the most trusted voices in online film criticism.

With over 1 million subscribers and a deep resume of short films screened at festivals across the country, Shelby Oaks marks the next chapter in Stuckmann’s evolution—from fan and critic to filmmaker.

Though not a fan of fame, Chris continues to create with the same goal he’s had from the beginning: to share his passion for movies, have fun doing it, and connect with others who love the art just as much.
