Cold Feet Adds International Partners and Czech Stars Ahead of Frontières Debut at Fantasia
Intercultural zombie rom-com Cold Feet continues to gain momentum ahead of its presentation at the Frontières Co-Production Market during this year’s Fantasia International Film Festival, with writer-director Apoorva Satish’s genre project adding new co-production partners and several high-profile Czech actors to its growing ensemble.
The Prague-set production has secured Telemark from Poland, France’s Ici et Là Productions, and India’s LaSutra Pictures as co-production partners. The announcement arrives just ahead of the project’s debut at Frontières, the influential genre financing and co-production market running July 22-25 in Montreal as part of Fantasia.
Developed through Satish’s Prague-based banner Off Beat Films alongside filmmaker Michael Sikora, Cold Feet blends zombie horror, romantic comedy, and cultural satire against the backdrop of a Czech-Indian wedding. The story follows a bride and groom whose celebration quickly descends into chaos when relatives and wedding guests begin transforming into flesh-eating monsters, forcing the newlyweds into a fight for survival.
The filmmakers also revealed that Czech actors Jiřà Mádl (Waves, Borgia), Jakub Štáfek (Vysehrad), and Tatiana Dyková (Home Care) have joined the cast.
According to Satish, the Indian side of the family will likely be portrayed as either U.K. Tamil or French Tamil, a decision directly connected to the film’s unique zombie mythology. The production is currently exploring diaspora casting options with an emphasis on performers who already have a presence in English-language markets, supporting the project’s international ambitions.
Satish recently reflected on the project’s early challenges, revealing that initial pitches in India were met with skepticism due to the absence of a major star attachment. Despite those setbacks, she remained confident the story could resonate with both Indian diaspora audiences and global genre fans seeking fresh perspectives within the zombie genre.
That confidence has helped propel the project forward. Cold Feet has since received support from EAVE’s Ties That Bind program and the Czech Audiovisual Fund, further strengthening its international profile as it heads into Frontières.
The filmmakers are targeting a late 2027 or early 2028 production start, while Falcon has already secured Czech distribution rights.
As Fantasia and Frontières prepare to spotlight the project for international buyers and partners, Cold Feet is emerging as one of the more distinctive genre concepts currently making its way through the global development pipeline, combining wedding chaos, cross-cultural comedy, and zombie carnage into a package designed for audiences well beyond its Czech roots.
