Danielle Nicolet Makes Directorial Debut with Noir Crime Thriller Long Time Listener, Premiering on ALLBLK April 2
Actor and filmmaker Danielle Nicolet is stepping behind the camera for the first time with the new noir-inspired crime thriller Long Time Listener, which premieres April 2 on AMC’s ALLBLK streaming network.
Best known to many audiences for her role on The Flash and appearances in films like Central Intelligence, Nicolet not only directs the project but also takes the lead role as Elle, a true-crime podcaster whose growing popularity begins attracting the wrong kind of attention.
The film arrives as part of a multi-picture distribution partnership between ALLBLK and GreenApple Entertainment, a company known for producing and distributing films centered on multicultural casts and strong female-driven stories.
From its opening moments, Long Time Listener leans into a tense, noir-style atmosphere, blending crime thriller elements with a character-driven narrative that places Nicolet’s protagonist at the center of a dangerous mystery.
In the film, Elle’s successful podcast draws a devoted audience—but one listener in particular becomes disturbingly invested in her life. As the anonymous admirer begins to manipulate events from the shadows, Elle is pulled into a spiraling web of secrets and buried truths.
What starts as attention quickly escalates into something far more threatening, forcing her to confront the unsettling possibility that the stories she tells may be leading her directly into danger.
The cast alongside Nicolet includes Meagan Holder (Monarch, Pitch) as Genesis, Lyriq Bent (She’s Gotta Have It, Tyler Perry’s Acrimony) as Carter, and Cleo Berry as Max. Additional performances come from Lisha Wheeler as Ruby, with a cameo from Torrei Hart (Atlanta Exes).
The project is produced by Joe Narode, whose previous work includes Shamed and Pardoned by Grace.
With its focus on media culture, true-crime obsession, and the blurred boundaries between storyteller and subject, Long Time Listener taps into a timely concept that feels especially relevant in today’s podcast-driven landscape.
And with Nicolet making her feature directorial debut, the film also represents a new creative chapter for the veteran performer.
Long Time Listener premieres April 2 exclusively on ALLBLK.
