‘IP MAN: KUNG FU LEGEND’ Brings Wing Chun Action Back This July From Well Go USA
IP MAN: KUNG FU LEGEND is bringing the legendary martial arts master back to screens this summer as Well Go USA Entertainment prepares the film for release on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on July 14.
Directed by Li Liming, the latest installment reunites the filmmaker with martial arts performer and former Wushu champion Dennis To, who returns to portray Ip Man for the fourth time.
The film continues To’s long-running connection to the legendary Wing Chun grandmaster following appearances in Ip Man: The Legend Is Born, Kung Fu League, and Ip Man: Kung Fu Master.
This newest chapter follows Ip Man after stepping away from his police career to establish his own martial arts school. According to the official synopsis, tensions escalate when a western boxing gym begins buying property connected to the local martial arts community, forcing Ip Man into conflict while attempting to protect local workers from criminal triads and foreign businessmen.
The trailer released alongside the announcement heavily emphasizes fast-paced choreography, large-scale fight sequences, and classic martial arts cinema aesthetics. The footage leans into practical stunt work, close-quarters Wing Chun combat, and stylized action sequences that longtime martial arts fans will immediately recognize.
The film also stars Zhou Xiaofei, known for appearances in The Grandmaster and Ip Man 4: The Finale, alongside newcomer Zhang Tingfei, Wan Wanzhong, Zhao Jingshuyu, and Steven Dasz.
The trailer itself delivers the type of explosive martial arts action longtime fans of the franchise expect, while also pushing the larger mythology surrounding Ip Man deeper into heroic action territory. Between the large crowd fights, traditional martial arts philosophy, and heavy focus on honor and justice, the film appears positioned squarely within the classic kung fu tradition that helped define earlier entries in the franchise.
For martial arts cinema fans, IP MAN: KUNG FU LEGEND continues one of the genre’s most recognizable modern legacies while giving Dennis To another opportunity to step back into the role of the legendary Wing Chun master.
IP MAN: KUNG FU LEGEND arrives on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD July 14.
