Glen Powell Leads A24’s Renamed Thriller How to Make a Killing, Hitting Theaters February 20, 2026

Glen Powell stars in A24’s newly retitled thriller How to Make a Killing, directed by John Patton Ford.

A24 is sharpening the knives for early 2026. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has officially retitled its upcoming Glen Powell thriller Huntington to How to Make a Killing, with a theatrical release locked for February 20, 2026. Powell leads an ensemble that includes Margaret Qualley and Ed Harris, with writer-director John Patton Ford (Emily the Criminal) steering the ship.

Inspired by Robert Hamer’s 1949 British crime classic Kind Hearts and Coronets, How to Make a Killing follows Becket Redfellow (Powell), a disgraced member of a phenomenally wealthy family who decides he’ll get his inheritance by any means necessary—no matter who he has to eliminate. The script, which has lived several lives, first appeared on the 2014 Black List under the title Rothchild, with earlier iterations nearly starring Shia LaBeouf and Mel Gibson.

This new incarnation brings together a stacked supporting cast: Jessica Henwick, Zach Woods, Topher Grace, and Bill Camp. StudioCanal financed and produced the feature, rounding out a project that has been nearly a decade in the making.

Powell recently told THR that he’s been eager for audiences to finally see the film:

“The movie is fantastic, and John Patton Ford is a great filmmaker. I can’t wait for people to see it.”

And the timing couldn’t be better. Powell’s streak—Top Gun: Maverick, Anyone but You, Twisters, and his latest for Paramount, The Running Man—has made him one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood. His upcoming lineup includes J.J. Abrams’ Ghostwriter alongside Jenna Ortega, Emma Mackey, and Samuel L. Jackson.

How to Make a Killing enters theaters on February 20, the same date as 20th Century Studios’ Psycho Killer and Lionsgate’s I Can Only Imagine 2. Expect A24’s thriller to slice through the clutter with the kind of sharp, stylish, class-war crime storytelling the studio excels at.
