Lee’s ordinary delivery route turns into a high-stakes fight for survival in Delivery Run, where every stop could be his last. (Grimmfest)
Times are tough for everyone—eggs are expensive, gas prices feel like rocket fuel, and jobs don’t pay enough to make ends meet. This harsh reality sets the stage for Delivery Run, Joey Palmroos’ gritty highway horror. Alexander Arnold plays Lee, an unlucky food delivery driver whose life spirals into a nightmare. For some, working in food delivery feels like a grind, but for Lee, it’s a literal fight for survival. Delivery Run is a throwback to the road terrors of the past, with modern-day anxieties.
Embracing the charm of exploitation films, Delivery Run follows the classic formula: a down-on-his-luck anti-hero, a dead-end job, and a homicidal maniac on the prowl. The film grips you from the opening scenes, using the snow-covered landscape of Minnesota as a perfect backdrop for Lee’s yellow Ford Sierra to plow through, restaurant to restaurant. In a post-pandemic world, the life of a delivery driver has become all too relatable, and Delivery Run capitalizes on this new subgenre, similar to films like DashCam. If you ever wondered what happened to the pizza drivers of the ’80s, this film lets you witness today’s delivery drivers face their worst fears.
Delivery Run is a “high-octane horror ride” that doesn’t stray far from survival horror favorites. It delivers laughs, ridiculous situations, and tense thrills along the way. While it doesn’t break new ground, it’s a “popcorn flick built for thrills,” perfect for fans of the genre to enjoy with friends.
