‘Legend of the White Dragon,’ Jason David Frank’s Final Film, Sets Digital and 4K Release

Legend of the White Dragon, the sci-fi action adventure starring late Power Rangers icon Jason David Frank in his final performance, is officially heading home this fall.

Well Go USA Entertainment will release the film early on Digital September 22, followed by a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD release October 20.

Directed by Aaron Schoenke in his feature filmmaking debut, Legend of the White Dragon reunites Frank with fellow Power Rangers alumni Jason Faunt, Cerina Vincent and Ciara Hanna. The film takes inspiration from the superhero storytelling associated with the franchise while developing an original mythology with a darker and more mature approach.

Frank stars as Erik Reed, who has spent three years hiding his identity as the White Dragon following a catastrophic event. When Erik finally emerges from the shadows, he sets out to reclaim his stolen identity, clear his name and reconnect with his secret family.

His return also brings another threat into his life. A mysterious villain known as Dragon Prime emerges with a personal vendetta and is determined to bring down the White Dragon once and for all.

The cast also includes Schoenke, Rachele Brooke Smith, Michael Madsen, Andrew Bachelor, David Ramsey and Mark Dacascos.

Successfully crowdfunded through Kickstarter, Legend of the White Dragon developed from an independent project supported directly by fans into Schoenke’s first feature film. Its eventual release also carries additional significance as Frank’s final performance following his death in 2022.

Frank became one of the most recognizable and enduring performers associated with Power Rangers after debuting as Tommy Oliver in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. His involvement in Legend of the White Dragon, alongside several other actors connected to the franchise, gives the original project a direct connection to the audience that followed their work over the past three decades.

The upcoming physical editions will also include several bonus features.

Both the DVD and Blu-ray/4K editions will include Spanish-language availability, filmmaker commentary, the film’s trailer and a thank-you feature dedicated to the crowdfunding backers who helped bring the project to life. A Q&A with Jenna Frank will be available on the DVD and Blu-ray editions.

Legend of the White Dragon debuts on Digital September 22 before arriving on 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD October 20 from Well Go USA Entertainment.
