‘Last Chance Motel’ Acquired by The Horror Collective Ahead of Cannes Fantastic Galas Screening
The Horror Collective has acquired worldwide rights to Last Chance Motel, the upcoming desert-set horror thriller co-written and co-directed by Danielle Harris and Scout Taylor-Compton.
Parent company Studio Dome will present the film to international buyers during the Marché du Film at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where the project is also scheduled to screen in the Fantastic Galas section.
The film follows a newlywed couple whose wedding celebration turns violent after discovering the remote Nevada desert motel hosting the event is operated by a deadly family hiding dark secrets.

According to the official synopsis, Last Chance Motel combines psychological thriller elements with slasher horror while using a contained desert setting as the backdrop for the story.

Harris and Taylor-Compton also star in the film alongside Heather Langenkamp, Monica Keena, Robert Allen Mukes, Shane West, Sierra McCormick, and Zachary Roozen.
The casting brings together several performers closely associated with major horror franchises, including Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween II, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Freddy vs. Jason, and House of 1000 Corpses.

Harris and Taylor-Compton are also known for co-hosting the horror podcast Talk Scary to Me through Bloody Disgusting.
The screenplay was co-written by Harris, Taylor-Compton, and Brandon Slagle. The film was developed by Talk Scary Productions and Hillin Entertainment.
Production credits include producer Daemon Hillin alongside Harris and Taylor-Compton, with Amy Covell and Tom O’Connell serving as co-producers. Tasos Eliopoulos composed the score, while Andy Patch handled cinematography and Austin Nordell edited the film.
Studio Dome CEO Shaked Berenson stated that the project combines recognizable genre talent with a contained horror concept designed for both theatrical and streaming audiences.
Programming director Heidi Honeycutt also highlighted the significance of Harris and Taylor-Compton directing the project themselves while collaborating with Heather Langenkamp.
The Horror Collective continues expanding its catalog of independent horror releases through both traditional distribution and its recently launched streaming platform BloodStream, which focuses on horror, thriller, and science fiction programming.
Additional release details for Last Chance Motel are expected following its Cannes market screenings.
