Legacy and Blood Collide in Gritty MMA Thriller Beast

Daniel MacPherson and Russell Crowe in MMA thriller Beast.
Daniel MacPherson returns to the cage alongside Russell Crowe in Tyler Atkins’ fight thriller Beast.

There’s a particular kind of brutality that doesn’t need monsters or masked killers — just a cage, two men, and everything on the line.

The official teaser trailer, poster and first-look images have dropped for Beast, the upcoming fight thriller directed by Tyler Atkins and written by David Frigerio and Russell Crowe. The film storms into theaters nationwide on April 10, 2026.

At the center of Beast is a fallen MMA legend forced back into the spotlight. Daniel MacPherson stars as a once-feared champion who left the cage years ago, retreating from both the sport and the demons that came with it. But when his younger brother’s life is put in danger, retirement becomes a luxury he can’t afford.

To survive what’s coming, he reunites with the trainer who once forged him into a champion — played by Oscar winner Russell Crowe (Gladiator). The mission is simple. One final fight. One last shot at reclaiming legacy. One opponent who is more than willing to erase it.

The reigning title-holder, portrayed by Luke Hemsworth, isn’t just a challenger. He’s a dismantler. A fighter who thrives on breaking men publicly and permanently. The teaser suggests that this isn’t just about belts or rankings — it’s about identity.

Also starring Bren Foster, Amy Shark, Mojean Aria and Kelly Gale, Beast blends the visceral intensity of cage fighting with the emotional stakes of family loyalty and fractured brotherhood.

For horror and thriller fans, the appeal isn’t hard to see. There’s something inherently primal about combat sports. The claustrophobic lighting. The roar of the crowd. The inevitability of damage. When you strip away spectacle, what remains is survival.

The creative team behind Beast leans into that rawness. Produced by John Schwarz, David Frigerio, Michael Schwarz and Tim O’Hair, the film positions itself as less of a sports drama and more of a high-stakes pressure cooker. Win, or lose everything you’ve built.

If the teaser is any indication, Beast isn’t interested in polished redemption arcs. It’s interested in what happens when a man is pushed to the edge and told the only way out is forward — through violence.
