The official trailer for Bassam Tariq’s Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother has arrived, offering a gripping first look at the filmmaker’s latest feature starring Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali. The drama will open in select theaters on September 25 before expanding nationwide in October.

Ali stars as Latif, a deeply religious hitman attempting to reconcile faith, fatherhood, and a violent profession. After the death of his wife, Latif embarks on a desperate journey across Houston to protect his children while confronting enemies closing in around him and beliefs that begin to unravel under the weight of grief and survival.

Joining Ali is a supporting cast that includes John Cho, Abubakr Ali, Laith Nakli, Tramell Tillman, Tiffany Boone, Giancarlo Esposito, Adia, and Jahleel Kamara.

Written and directed by Bassam Tariq, the trailer showcases an intense blend of grounded crime drama and emotional character study. Action sequences are balanced with moments centered on family, faith, and the personal cost of violence, while Houston provides the backdrop for a story that appears as intimate as it is explosive.

For many genre fans, the trailer also serves as a reminder of Tariq’s previously announced Blade project, which ultimately never moved forward with Mahershala Ali in the title role. While audiences never got the opportunity to see Ali wield a sword as Marvel’s vampire hunter, Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother offers plenty of moments that showcase the actor in physically demanding action sequences while placing equal emphasis on dramatic storytelling.
