Lifeline - movie review

Lifeline explores suicide prevention, fate, and time-bending mystery in this gripping thriller.
Josh Stewart stars in Lifeline, a psychological thriller that blurs the line between fate and reality.

There are moments in life that change in an instant—sometimes by fate, sometimes by a force we can’t explain. But what if that force was you? In Feras Alfuqaha’s mind-bending thriller Lifeline, the power to save a life hinges on a single chance encounter, delving deep into the themes of suicide prevention, fate, and the unseen forces that shape our existence.

Josh Stewart stars as Steven Thomas, a dedicated volunteer at a suicide prevention hotline. While he may not be there full-time, his commitment to the cause is unwavering. His home life appears normal—he has a teenage son, and his routine seems simple enough—but the moment he steps inside the cold, isolating call center, an unsettling feeling sets in. At first, it appears only Steven and one other person are in the building, creating an eerie atmosphere that intensifies as the calls start flooding in. Each call adds another layer to the mystery, building tension until the film takes an unexpected turn that leaves you questioning what’s real and what’s beyond Steven’s control.

As the narrative unfolds, the pieces start falling into place like a domino effect, but instead of a straightforward thriller, Lifeline morphs into something more sci-fi-infused. The introduction of Judah Thomas, playing a younger version of a key character, shifts the film into a time-bending psychological puzzle, reminiscent of The Butterfly Effect and other films where every word, every action, has the potential to change fate.

While Lifeline leaves some questions unanswered, that ambiguity makes it even more compelling. When it comes to life and death, we are often the ones who must navigate our own paths—but are we strong enough to save ourselves from them?
