NEON Sets June 19 Release for Sundance Breakout

One of the most talked-about genre titles coming out of Sundance is already gearing up for its theatrical run.
NEON has officially set a June 19 theatrical release for Leviticus, the unsettling supernatural thriller written and directed by Adrian Chiarella. Along with the announcement, the studio unveiled a new poster featuring a burning lighter with the date etched across the flame — a small but fittingly ominous tease for a film that’s already generating serious buzz.
As we’ll mention on tomorrow’s episode of The Final Cut, Leviticus is also heading to SXSW, where it’s expected to continue building momentum with audiences.
The film follows two teenage boys living in a conservative Christian community who are sent away to a conversion-style camp by their parents. What begins as an attempt to “correct” their desires quickly spirals into something far more sinister. At the camp, the boys encounter a violent supernatural entity that feeds on suppressed desire — and more disturbingly, takes the form of the person they want most.
Each other.
The rules are cruel. If you give in to the entity, it attacks.
That premise alone has made Leviticus one of the most talked-about genre films circulating the festival circuit. The film blends religious horror, psychological dread, and a brutal metaphor about repression into something that sounds as uncomfortable as it is compelling.
The cast includes Joe Bird and Stacey Clausen, leading a story that’s already sparking conversation about how horror continues to evolve when it tackles deeply personal subject matter through supernatural allegory.
With Sundance buzz, an upcoming SXSW run, and NEON behind the release, Leviticus looks poised to be one of the summer’s most discussed genre titles.
