NEON Releases First Teaser for Nicolas Winding Refn Thriller ‘Her Private Hell’
Her Private Hell has received its first teaser trailer from NEON ahead of the film’s theatrical release on July 24.
Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, the upcoming psychological thriller stars Sophie Thatcher, Havana Rose Liu, Kristine Froseth, Charles Melton, Dougray Scott, and Diego Calva.
The teaser introduces a visually stylized world filled with neon lighting, surreal imagery, high-fashion aesthetics, and escalating psychological tension. Early footage heavily emphasizes atmosphere over plot details, blending glossy commercial-style imagery with violent and unsettling horror visuals.
According to the official synopsis, the story unfolds after a mysterious mist overtakes a futuristic city, unleashing a deadly and difficult-to-understand entity. At the center of the story is a troubled young woman searching for her missing father whose path eventually intersects with an American GI attempting to rescue his daughter from a nightmarish environment.

The footage released today leans heavily into the visual sensibilities often associated with Refn’s filmmaking style, combining sleek production design, dreamlike pacing, stylized violence, and emotionally detached tension. The teaser also carries strong visual influences connected to Italian giallo cinema and psychological horror aesthetics.
Sophie Thatcher continues adding major genre projects to her growing filmography following recent appearances in several horror and thriller titles. The cast surrounding her also adds a mix of rising talent and established dramatic performers.
Online reactions to the teaser have already focused on the film’s heavy use of color, fashion-inspired presentation, and hypnotic tone. Many viewers have compared the teaser’s visual presentation to luxury fragrance campaigns mixed with psychological horror imagery.
With Her Private Hell, Refn appears to continue exploring neon-soaked psychological worlds built around identity, violence, desire, and emotional instability.
Her Private Hell arrives exclusively in theaters July 24.
