Nicolas Cage is back—and this time, he’s coming for the devil.
A24 has unveiled the first teaser for The Carpenter’s Son, a bleak, blood-soaked descent into religious horror from filmmaker Lofty Nathan (12 O’Clock Boys). Starring Cage, FKA twigs, Noah Jupe, and Isla Johnston, the film is slated to hit theaters Fall 2025.
The teaser alone is enough to rattle even the most seasoned genre fans. Cage appears nearly unrecognizable—weathered, hollow-eyed, and seemingly carrying the weight of a divine burden. The imagery is harsh and unforgettable: desecrated bodies, a serpent emerging from a character’s mouth, and flashes of surreal iconography that hint at a violent reckoning between sin and salvation.
While plot details remain tightly under wraps, The Carpenter’s Son appears to pit Cage’s character against a rising evil, framed through a theological lens that’s equal parts possession thriller and spiritual fever dream.
FKA twigs adds an ethereal presence to the cast, marking a rare lead performance in a feature-length horror film. Combined with Jupe and Johnston, the ensemble is primed for something both intimate and nightmarish.
Lofty Nathan, known for his grounded documentary work, seems to be pulling no punches in this narrative debut. If the teaser is any indication, The Carpenter’s Son may be one of the most transgressive horror offerings of the year
Watch the teaser now—then say a prayer. You might need it.
