Prom Night Gets a Limited Edition 4K UHD Release With New Dolby Vision Restoration This August
One of the defining slashers of the early 1980s is returning in a major way this summer.
Synapse Films has officially announced a new limited edition release of Paul Lynch's Prom Night, arriving August 3, 2026, as a 4K UHD and Blu-ray combo pack complete with an exclusive slipcase and a brand-new restoration.
Limited to just 3,000 units worldwide, the collector's edition will feature the world premiere Dolby Vision restoration sourced from the original 35mm camera negative, along with a newly created Dolby Atmos audio remix built from a recently discovered original magnetic theatrical sound mix.
Fans can pre-order the release now through Synapse Films, Orbit DVD, and Diabolik DVD. Select Vinegar Syndrome retail locations will also carry limited quantities on release day.

Originally released in 1980, Prom Night stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Leslie Nielsen in a classic slasher story built around a deadly secret.
The film follows four Hamilton High students connected to a tragic event from six years earlier involving a young girl named Robin Hammond. As prom night approaches, a mysterious figure dressed in black begins targeting those responsible, turning the school's biggest celebration into a deadly game of revenge.
The film helped cement Jamie Lee Curtis as one of horror's most recognizable figures, arriving just two years after her breakout role in John Carpenter's Halloween. Alongside Curtis, Leslie Nielsen appears years before his comedic reinvention in The Naked Gun franchise.
This new release comes packed with bonus content that longtime collectors will appreciate.
Special features include an audio commentary with director Paul Lynch and screenwriter William Gray, moderated by Pat Jankiewicz, along with The Horrors of Hamilton High: The Making of Prom Night, an episode of Horror's Hallowed Grounds hosted by Sean Clark and ScottOnTape, television broadcast scenes, outtakes, a still gallery, original trailers, TV and radio spots, and optional English subtitles.
The release will also feature new slipcase artwork by Sean Longmore.
