Robert the Doll Returns as Production Begins on Franchise Reboot
One of Britain's most recognizable indie horror icons is heading back to the screen. IMP Studios and 4Digital Media have officially announced that production is underway on a reboot of the Robert the Doll franchise, with filming currently taking place in Scotland.
The new film marks Robert's first return to production in seven years and serves as a fresh reimagining of the killer doll character that first appeared in filmmaker Andrew Jones' 2015 horror feature Robert. The original film launched a five-film franchise and helped establish Robert as a familiar name among fans of independent horror.
The reboot is being produced by Shepka Productions and Flickering Myth, continuing a growing partnership between the two companies following the gothic horror feature The Baby in the Basket and the upcoming suspense thriller Death Among the Pines, which is expected to arrive in the UK during the third quarter of 2026.
Leading the cast is Elle O'Hara (The Baby in the Basket, Wuthering Heights: House of the Damned), alongside newcomer Iona McGill. The film also stars Annabelle Lanyon (Legend), Stephen Kerr, Nathan Shepka, and franchise veteran Lee Bane, who returns to the world of Robert the Doll.
Producing duties are being handled by Nathan Shepka for Shepka Productions and Gary Collinson for Flickering Myth. Executive producers include Tony Taglienti and Sally Wood for 4Digital Media, Robert Graham for IMP Studios, and Emmy Award-winning producer Kira Reed (The Bay).
The project is being co-financed by IMP Studios and 4Digital Media. In addition to financing the production, 4Digital Media will oversee UK and U.S. distribution while also managing worldwide sales rights.
Since making his debut more than a decade ago, Robert has become one of the more recognizable killer dolls in modern independent horror. The reboot aims to introduce the character to a new audience while continuing the franchise's legacy for longtime fans.
With cameras rolling in Scotland and a new creative team guiding the property forward, horror fans can expect more updates on the latest chapter in the Robert the Doll saga as production continues.
