Apple TV+ Unveils Trailer for Alt-History Space Thriller Star City, Premiering May 29
A new chapter in alternate-history storytelling is set to launch as Apple TV+ debuts the official trailer for Star City, an eight-episode series expanding the world of For All Mankind.
Created by Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Ronald D. Moore, Star City shifts perspective on the space race, exploring an alternate timeline where the Soviet Union becomes the first nation to land a man on the moon.
Rather than focusing on the American side of the race, the series moves behind the Iron Curtain, centering on the lives of cosmonauts, engineers, and intelligence officers working within the Soviet space program. The narrative blends historical reimagining with elements of political tension and psychological thriller, emphasizing the risks and pressures faced by those involved.
The ensemble cast includes Rhys Ifans, Anna Maxwell Martin, Agnes O’Casey, Alice Englert, Solly McLeod, Adam Nagaitis, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Josef Davies, and Priya Kansara.
Positioned as both a continuation and expansion of For All Mankind’s universe, Star City leans into paranoia and internal conflict, presenting the space race not just as a technological competition, but as a high-stakes environment shaped by secrecy and power dynamics.
The series will premiere globally with its first two episodes on Friday, May 29, followed by weekly releases through July 10.
With its shift in perspective and focus on the Soviet side of the space race, Star City adds a new dimension to the alternate-history genre, combining historical speculation with character-driven tension.
