STREET FIGHTER Unveils First Sneak Peek and Character Posters at The Game Awards
The upcoming live-action Street Fighter feature made its first major public move Thursday night at The Game Awards, where the cast surprised audiences with the debut of the film’s first sneak peek and a full slate of character posters revealing all 17 fighters set to appear in the film.
The presentation took place December 11 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and featured several members of the ensemble in attendance, marking the first official look at Paramount Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ long-anticipated adaptation of Capcom’s iconic fighting game franchise.
Among the cast revealed were Andrew Koji as Ryu and Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, alongside Callina Liang as Chun-Li. The film also introduces Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoaʻi as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, and Mel Jarnson as Cammy. Jason Momoa appears both in front of and behind the camera as Blanka and producer.
Additional cast members include Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Alexander Volkanovski as Joe, and Kyle Mooney as Marvin.
Set in 1993, Street Fighter follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken as they’re pulled back into combat when Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament. What begins as a global battle of elite martial artists quickly reveals a deeper conspiracy, forcing the fighters to confront both each other and the unresolved demons of their past. Failure, as the film makes clear, isn’t just defeat—it’s game over.
The film is directed by Kitao Sakurai and aims to translate the franchise’s signature blend of martial arts, global spectacle, and heightened personalities from the arcade to the big screen. The project is executive produced by J.J. Hook, Jay Ashenfelter, Kenzo Tsujimoto, and Haruhiro Tsujimoto, with producers including Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Jason Momoa, Takayuki Nakayama, and Stefan Makhoul.
Street Fighter is presented by Paramount Pictures and Legendary Pictures, in association with Capcom, and is based on the long-running video game franchise.
The film is currently set for theatrical release on October 16, 2026.
