The MacManus brothers are back—this time in book form. Creator Troy Duffy, the writer-director behind the cult classic The Boondock Saints, is bringing fans a new chapter of vigilante lore with The Boondock Saints, Volume 1: Blood Origin. The novel will be available October 21 in both eBook and audiobook formats, with preorders live now on Audible, Amazon, and Apple Books.
Written and narrated by Duffy himself, Blood Origin takes audiences back before the events of the 1999 film to explore the early lives of Connor and Murphy MacManus. Born in Ireland and hardened in Boston, the brothers’ story begins with a border crossing into America and quickly spirals into a world where every alley is a threat and every decision carries deadly weight.
The novel traces their introduction to Boston’s ruthless underworld through their bond with Rocco, a Mafia foot soldier who becomes both ally and family. As the brothers navigate loyalty, violence, and survival, their search for the father they never knew reveals a darker legacy at the core of their bloodline.
While the story is steeped in crime, corruption, and Irish-Catholic noir, Duffy emphasizes that Blood Origin is more than just a crime saga. It’s a tale of family, betrayal, and the moral tightrope of vigilante justice—asking readers to decide whether Connor and Murphy are saints, sinners, or something in between.
“This story is about family, loyalty, and the choices that define us,” Duffy said in a statement. “Connor and Murphy’s journey is dark, thrilling, and ultimately unforgettable—a deeper look into the world fans fell in love with on screen.”
For longtime fans and newcomers alike, The Boondock Saints: Blood Origin delivers a cinematic reading experience, expanding the mythology of one of cinema’s most enduring cult properties into a new medium.
