Tyler Posey, the actor best known for his breakout role in Teen Wolf, is stepping behind the camera — and stepping into darker territory. According to Deadline, Posey is set to direct, star in and produce Sober House, marking his feature-film directorial debut.
The indie thriller is targeting a shoot in the Los Angeles area in early 2026, and Posey will also lead the cast. While full plot details remain under wraps, the film is described as a “serial-killer thriller” that veers into obsession, recovery and primal fear.
For Posey, who has previously appeared in horror and thriller templates (including Truth or Dare), the move to direct suggests a deliberate shift — from genre performer to genre auteur. Over the years, he’s navigated supernatural stakes, teen horror, and now appears ready to take the helm of his own nightmare.
Sober House represents more than a career pivot: the title itself hints at the duality of sanctuary and terror. The concept of a “sober house” (a home for recovery) transformed into a hunting ground for violence and madness is rich with thematic potential — addiction, regression, identity and the primal hunt all in one frame. With Posey’s experience and horror cred, the project is generating early interest in the indie horror circuit.
If the behind-the-camera leap pays off, Posey could join the ranks of actors who successfully transitioned to directing heavy genre fare. From early mentions to market chatter, Sober House is clearly one to watch for horror fans and industry watchers alike.
