Vertical Entertainment Drops Trailer for Thieves Highway, Starring Aaron Eckhart and Devon Sawa — In Theaters December 12
Vertical Entertainment has released the trailer for Thieves Highway, an action thriller led by Aaron Eckhart and Devon Sawa, arriving in theaters December 12 and on digital December 16. The film, directed by Jesse V. Johnson, follows the classic setup of a lawman pushed into isolation and forced to fight his way out — with a twist: Eckhart is playing a “cow cop,” a role we haven’t seen him take on in any previous action outing.
The trailer showcases Frank Bennett (Eckhart) as a rural law enforcement officer whose routine patrol turns into a violent standoff. After a deadly confrontation, he uncovers a sprawling smuggling operation hidden in remote farmland. Cut off from cell service, stranded without his truck, and outnumbered, Frank is forced to take on a heavily armed gang led by Devon Sawa’s unhinged ex-military commander.
What follows is an escalation of gunfights, hand-to-hand brawls, backwoods ambushes, and survival-driven improvisation. It’s a stripped-down action film built around confrontation and grit — a kind of beat-’em-up roadside thriller that feels like something your dad would have found on cable at 2 a.m. and insisted on finishing.
The supporting cast includes Lucy Martin (Vikings) and Lochlyn Munro (Peacemaker), rounding out a lineup that leans into the film’s rougher edge. Johnson, known for practical stunt work and physical action, appears to bring that same energy here, keeping the focus on close-quarters fighting and old-school shootouts.

Thieves Highway releases in theaters next week on December 12, with a digital rollout beginning December 16. The new trailer is available now courtesy of Vertical Entertainment.
